Vest, Dale Oakley Feb 7, 1961 - Apr 2, 2017, Nokomis FL. Our hearts ache as we announce the passing (or as Dale preferred, crossing over) of our very much loved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend & all around great guy. He has journeyed home ahead of his parents, Mary & Earl Hostetler & JoAnne Vest. He was greeted at the gates of glory by His Savior, Jesus Christ, & his Daddy, Edward Vest. He leaves behind 6 brothers & 4 sisters & 1 Hilde all of whom he could drive absolutely crazy, but who loved him to the moon & back a gazillion times! Dale loved nature, animals, children, the simple things in life & found beauty in his world every day. In the midst of a ferocious, unrelenting battle with cancer, if you asked Dale how he was, his answer would always be, "It's a beautiful day & God is everywhere around me. I'm happy, happy, happy." On June 10th, 2017, Dale will celebrate 4 years of sobriety. He was looking forward to that as was his family who are all so proud of him. This year he gets to celebrate in heaven. Dale, enjoy your eternal "Sabastian." (A Dale-ism) Not goodbye, but see you later! The family suggests sending memorial contributions to SRQ Salvation Army Recovery Program.
