Jean Hauck Wiley died September 19, 2018, in the peaceful and gentle care of Tidewell Hospice of Bradenton, Fla.

Mrs. Wiley was born Feb. 21, 1933, in New York City, NY. She was the daughter of James Smith Hauck of East Orange, New Jersey, and Ann-Marie Kennedy of Omaha, Nebraska.

She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Frank Endicott Wiley. And survived by children, step-children, grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and great grandchildren - the joys of her life.

Mrs. Wiley lived her early years with her family in Lawrence, Long Island. The family eventually settled in Little Silver, New Jersey. She attended Emma Willard School in Troy, NY. Later, she moved to Kentucky where she worked in the health care industry in Frankfort, Ky.; Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; and Bradenton, Fla.

Mrs. Wiley had a strong faith that brought her strength, especially in the months before her death. She took joyful comfort from her belief that her spirit would reunite with her husband's, Frank Wiley.

She was a woman of great courage, grit, grace, compassion and humor from which grew a determination to reach out. Her volunteer work at the Just For Girls school was evidence of her passion for books and teaching children to read.

She would go to library sales of used books, buying all she could to take along for her volunteer reading days. The children in her classes called her "Grandma Jeanne."

There wasn't a current event she couldn't discuss. She was avid in keeping up with politics, the arts and sports. She loved listening to operas almost as much as watching movie westerns.

Mrs. Wiley's friends at Freedom Village at Bradenton were an important part of her life in the last couple of years, as were many other Florida and Kentucky friends over the years. She thoroughly enjoyed social events with them, and the many loving relationships. Her family is grateful for all their support.

Before her death, Mrs. Wiley spoke of having a joyful and lovely life, and expressed gratitude for all her blessings.

She is survived by: Children: Jeannie Falknor and her husband, Rick; Katie Clark Glasgow and her husband, Glenn Noble; Anna St. Charles and her husband, Jim Hines; Chip St. Charles and his wife, Jennie.
Step-children: Frank E. Wiley, Jr. and his wife, Lisa; Sally Wiley McConell and her husband, Wes. Grandchildren: Michael Falknor and his wife, Mandy; Carol Ann Clark Seney and her husband, Jason; Riley Charles Clark, Sr. and his wife, Kaylea; Jean Marie Clark Diehl and her husband, Thomas; Charlotte Rose Clark; Patrick Glasgow and his wife, Tovah; Klye Glasgow; Alex Stipp and his wife, Lindsey; Tristan Hines; Clay Hines; Juleah McGann and her husband, Taylor; Justine Butterfield; and Jonah St. Charles; Elise Gardner and her husband, Larry; Jason St. Charles. Step-grandchildren: Evalyn Wiley; Frank E. Wiley III; Hannah Lewis and her husband, Eric; Margarent McConnell.
