Martin (Marty) Lurie passed away at his home in Sarasota early this morning. October 18, 2022. In his final days, he was visited by friends and loved ones. His Special Friend of 39 years, Karen Kane was at his side.

Marty was born in Milwaukee, WI. He was the son of Leo Lurie and Betty Lee Kohen. He was a member of the US Merchant Marine, and a veteran of the US Army. During his Merchant Marine times, Marty traveled throughout the Middle East and Africa. While in the US Army, Marty was stationed in Washington State, Fort Sam Houston, Texas and South Korea. Marty enjoyed traveling through Asia, Middle East, Mexico and many other locations. Marty was Honorably Discharged from the US Army in 1964 and later began a career selling Real Estate. This became the most rewarding and active part of Marty's life for the next 40 years of his life.

Marty had moved to Maui, Hawaii, but upon moving to Sarasota, Florida, he soon found his true home. Although unmarried, Marty had a rich sense family in Florida. Marty was a good friend of Bill W. for over 40 years. Marty lived with a special friend Karen, who had 3 children, 6 grand-children, and 5 great grand-children who all called him "Uncle Marty." Marty's one sister, Annette (Nettie) Sattler, currently lives in Minnetonka, MN. Marty is preceded in death by both his parents.

His death was a result of his long-term struggle with Diabetes and the ongoing complications from that disease. Marty was a humble man who wished no special services and preferred to simply "fade away." It is with sincere sadness that all his family and friends say, "Aloha" to Marty.
